The Exclusive Hall of Hawks
The only public house in Corvis that requires membership via a recommendation by an existing member, a members fee and rather steep yearly dues. Visiting this public house is a calculated, exhaustive affair, always with the purpose of meeting someone of more importance or improving one’s status. This is a place where the wealthy introduce their children to proper society, and where those with too much free time reveal a new poet, artist, author, or fashion they’ve discovered, and potentially want to sponsor or are helping find a sponsor. It is a place to discuss politics, religion, sports, culture, and philosophy with extreme care, and where the slightest fashion faux pas could tarnish someone’s reputation for weeks.
The Hall of Hawks has been in Alfred Thornburne IV’s family for eight generations. Although very refined, he is also quite frail, having never utilized any muscle more than absolutely necessary. The various intricacies of High Society are all he knows. Servants are literally invisible to him except when he has a need. The concept of “lower class” is as much a myth to him as scuffed shoes and Dragons.
